This year in Second Grade we are using a new math book the series is called "Sadlier Math". We will have two books called Volume One and Volume Two.

In Math we are working on Chapter 12: Money and Time

Children can watch a video on Discovery Education called Learning About Money.

The children will learn:

Find the value of a group of coins consisting of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters
Show amounts of money in more than one way, using pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters
Compare an amount of money to the cost of an item
Find the amount of change needed,given the price and amount paid
Add and subtract amounts of money
Count and find amounts of coins equal to a dollar
Find the value of a group of bills
Tell and write time to the hour and half hour
Tell and write time to the nearest five minutes
Tell and write time to the nearest five minutes using A.M. and P. M.
Work backward for a given problem-solving situation

Each night the children should review addition/subtraction facts using flash cards. We will learn to sums of 20.
